About
A little about me
Hello, I'm Shelby Barlow. I live in West Cornwall, near Newlyn, and I'm a hospitality professional looking for cafe and community kitchen work.
I trained for three years at a specialist hospitality programme in the South West, graduating in 2025 with City & Guilds qualifications in hospitality, food preparation, cooking and customer service. I also hold a Level 1 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate.
Right now I volunteer at a community cafe in Penzance, and I'm doing a catering course at a second community cafe nearby. Both keep me practising the skills I love most — making people feel welcome, getting orders right, and helping the kitchen run smoothly.
I'm reliable, punctual, and I genuinely enjoy customer-facing work. My family helps me with travel and shift planning, so I'm flexible across mornings, afternoons and weekends.
What I'm looking for
- Location: within roughly fifteen miles of Newlyn — Penzance, Marazion, St Just, Hayle, St Ives and the surrounding villages.
- Hours: part-time, a few shifts a week. Daytime works best.
- Roles: front-of-house, kitchen prep, barista work, table service, washing up, cleaning, stock — anything that keeps a cafe or community kitchen running.
- Type: paid work, volunteer roles, work experience or trial shifts all welcome.
